We’re proud to announce that Mary McLaughlin was honored by the Caribbean Philanthropic Alliance, based in Jamaica, as their first recipient of the Women & Earth Award.
Known as CariPhil, the Alliance has as its core objective to harness financial and other resources to accelerate the achievement of UN Strategic Development Goals in the Caribbean. We at Trees That Feed Foundation were key partners in their successful project to plant one million fruit trees in 2020.
Mary was invited to be keynote speaker in CariPhil’s recent online conference. Mary gave an inspirational speech about empowering women, giving them opportunities for financial, nutritional and environmental gains. She described various TTFF projects including one to help street vendors in Haiti to earn money by taking breadfruit products to market. (A win for the women, the bakery and the customers!) At the end of the conference Mary was very surprised to be presented with this award. One of the credits in the award is “Breadfruit Ambassador to the World!”
The Women and Earth Award is a great honor and we all congratulate her.
