Mr. Joseph Johnson passed away suddenly on August 14, 2024, in Jamaica due to illness. He has been a friend and collaborator to Trees That Feed Foundation for 16 years. We are lamenting his loss and thinking of all those close to him. (Watch our tribute video.)
After retiring from a career with the Jamaican Government’s Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Mr. Johnson became an official representative of TTFF. He was a leading expert in the propagation and care of fruit trees and other plants.
Mr. Johnson owned and managed Eltham Gardens, a tree nursery in Clarendon, Jamaica. He sold fruit trees to us and helped distribute them across the island. He also advised and monitored farmers and processors who received trees and/or processing equipment from us.
Mary and Mike McLaughlin, co-founders of Trees That Feed Foundation, visited with Mr. Johnson during their recent visit to Jamaica. He consulted on TTFF’s work in Haiti and other countries.
“Joseph has helped and supported our work in Jamaica since our very beginnings,” said Mary. “He’s been a source of knowledge and advice for many years.” “Over the years Joseph has supplied tens of thousands of fruit trees to our farmers in Jamaica,” added Mike. “We could not have carried out our mission without him.”
It is hard to say goodbye. We are most grateful for his time, efforts, and good works over the years. We wish peace to his family.
You can watch Mary and Mike’s message of gratitude and rememberance here.
