CBS News Chicago reporter and anchor Suzanne Le Mignot highlighted the work of Trees That Feed Foundation in a segment broadcast twice last weekend to thousands of viewers!
Suzanne expertly crafted a story that explains how TTFF is making a difference in the lives of many, including people like Pierre Moise Louis, owner of Jeremie Breadfruit Flour and Nursery in Haiti, who was interviewed via Zoom.
Here is some context to keep in mind as you watch the segment…
When Mary and Mike McLaughlin met Pierre Moise, he was a student with big dreams. After engaging in TTFF programs, he is a leader in the breadfruit business in Haiti and beyond. He’s passing it all forward to his countrymen by employing people and providing food.
His customers include the United Nations’ World Food Programme and International Labour Union, which have just started dispensing breadfruit flour to schools in Haiti, like we do. Last week he delivered over two tons!
Pierre Moise is one of many who exemplify how TTFF programs work together to create sustainable results. Of course, we couldn’t do this work without in-country partners like him and others with boots on the ground and dedication aplenty.
In another in-depth interview, Mike and Mary answered questions about embarking upon TTFF’s mission 16 years ago, witnessing successful outcomes of their labor, and making exciting plans for the future. They explained the many benefits of breadfruit and why it is our flagship tree.
Mike emphasized how grateful we are to our supporters for enabling TTFF to fulfill its mission year after year. Thank you!
Thank you also to CBS News Chicago’s Suzanne Le Mignot and DeAndre Taylor, videographer, for creating a piece that truly reflects the impact of Trees That Feed.
