Trees That Feed Foundation is proud to welcome Dr. Russell Fielding to our Board of Directors.
Russell is a leading voice in breadfruit research and outreach. His new book, Breadfruit: Three Global Journeys of a Bountiful Tree, published by Columbia University Press, brings the story of breadfruit to life.
We marked the release with a launch event and gatherings in the Florida Keys. Guests experienced breadfruit through history, science, and food.
Russell brings strong academic depth. He trained in geography and sustainability. His work spans cultural geography, environmental history, anthropology, and human ecology. His breadfruit research has taken him to five continents!
Dr. Fielding is an Associate Professor at Coastal Carolina University. He is also a Principal Investigator with Ocean Nexus at the University of Rhode Island.
His research shows how breadfruit is expanding in the United States as climates change. Early American leaders like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson once hoped to grow it here. Today, that vision is becoming more real.
Russell brings rigor and perspective to our mission. His insight will help guide our work as breadfruit spreads worldwide.
